Electrode materials are the most critical component of lithium-ion batteries with high energy density for electric vehicles and portable electronic devices. At present, the main commercial negative electrode of lithium ion battery is graphite anode, whose capacity is close to the theoretical specific capacity (372 mAh/g). Therefore, it is urgent to develop a higher specific capacity of anode materials, and silicon based anode has become one of the best means to solve the energy density problem. Silicon has a theoretical capacity of 4200mAh/g, and high reserves on earth. Silicon-based materials (Si/C and SiO/C), which combine the advantages of high conductivity, stability and high capacity of carbon materials and silicon materials, have great development potential. Silicon-based anode materials are becoming an important heights to determine the product competitiveness of cathode materials manufacturers of lithium ion batteries in the future.

Since 2017, the first Symposium on Silicon-based anode Materials has been successfully held, with more than 2,500 participants. The participants highly praised the speeches and discussions of the conference, which greatly promoted the technical exchanges among peers, better promoted the combination of industry, university and research, strengthened the deep integration between the upstream and downstream industry chains, and strongly promoted the theoretical research and industrial development of silicon based anode.
